Last night’s board meeting was full of celebration! 🎉
We were honored to recognize our April Superintendent Students of the Month and to celebrate an incredible district achievement with our State Nutrition Director of the Year!

Congratulations to our outstanding students:
🌟 Lillian Chadwick – Putnam County Primary School
🌟 Dakota Lester – Putnam County Elementary School (not pictured)
🌟 Shamiyah Ellison – Putnam County Middle School
🌟 Coreyona Farley – Putnam county Putnam County High School

Each of these students consistently demonstrates strong leadership, perseverance, positive attitudes, and a commitment to academic excellence. We are so proud of the example they set for others across PCCSS.

We are also beyond proud to celebrate our very own Putnam County Charter School Nutrition Director, Mrs. Teena Carr, who was named the 2026 GSNA Director of the Year for the State of Georgia! This incredible honor reflects her passion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to serving our students. Every day, Mrs. Carr goes above and beyond to ensure our cafeterias are welcoming spaces where students are nourished, cared for, and encouraged to develop healthy habits. From supporting her staff to leading innovative programs across the district, her impact reaches far beyond the lunch line.

Congratulations to our amazing students and our outstanding Nutrition Director—you each make us extremely #PutnamProud!

Today we proudly welcomed Mrs. Rachel Kinsaul, the Georgia Teacher of the Year to Putnam County High School!

From an early morning arrival to a full schedule of meaningful conversations, the visit highlighted the incredible work happening across our district. Guests were welcomed by our Superintendent and CTAE Director, setting the tone for a day centered on collaboration and excellence. Mr. Abney, our Science Department Chair, provided the introduction and avenue for this guest speaker opportunity.

Our recently named Georgia Nutrition Director of the Year, Teena Carr, shared insights on our innovative harvesting initiative and the many opportunities it creates for cross-curricular learning. A special highlight of the day was meeting student leader Coreyona Farley, an Education as a Profession Apprenticeship participant and member of both the State and District Superintendent Advisory Boards—truly representing the bright future of teaching.

Mrs. Kinsaul led an engaging guest speaker session, where students explored their own personalities and gained valuable skills for working effectively with others.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to share our story and celebrate excellence in education right here at PCHS!

Mrs. Jackson’s Putnam County Primary School class came back from Spring Break to something extra special—a brand‑new, fenced outdoor play space! 🎉 This safe and secure area gives students more room to play, explore, and enjoy the outdoors. Additional adaptive play equipment will be added in the near future to ensure every student’s needs are supported. Judging by those big smiles, this surprise was a hit!

PCPS Award
Over the past two weeks, PCPS students took their learning beyond the classroom and into the heart of our community. Visits to the Eatonton Public Library, the Georgia Writers Museum, and the Plaza Arts Center allowed students to explore stories, history, and the arts through meaningful, real‑world experiences.

Each stop brought our ELA unit to life as students reflected on essential questions such as, “Why is the past important?” and “What can we learn from the past?” They were able to connect classroom instruction with the people, stories, and creativity that have helped shape our community.

We are also grateful to the Putnam County Recreation Department for allowing us to use their picnic area for lunch and for helping make this special experience possible. It was a wonderful reminder that learning truly happens everywhere!

Alumni Spotlight at Putnam County High School! 🦅

We were excited to welcome back PCHS Class of 2008 alumna Thomaesa B. Bailey to Putnam County High School last week! Ms. Bailey is an accomplished attorney, social worker, political strategist, and public policy expert with over 12 years of experience in politics. Her work has led to successful changes in the law at every level of government—from the city level in Detroit, to the state level here in Georgia, and even at the federal level in Washington, D.C.

During her visit, Ms. Bailey participated in a meet‑and‑greet with our students, where she shared her personal journey and encouraged them to believe that their zip code does not define their future. Students were highly engaged and asked thoughtful questions as they learned firsthand what’s possible through hard work, determination, and purpose.

She concluded her visit with a tour of our CTAE classrooms and labs, seeing how PCHS is preparing students for life after high school and future career success. Thank you, Ms. Bailey, for coming back to inspire the next generation of Putnam County leaders! 💙
